Hi Moin Ahsan,
nice to read your Easter Island experience,
I will be going from 6-19 November! I can't wait!
Do they have electricity at Martin and Anita Hostel?
(For my digital camera).
I was in Bangladesh last December with my Bengali
(adopted) girlfriend. We did a backpacking tour of 3
weeks. Sometimes we felt we were coming from Mars,
but, people are extremely friendly! We come from
Holland, are you Bengali?
Best regards,
Wouter and Sriti

Hi Moin,
my girlfriend was born in Sonapur, Maijdi, Noakhali.
She went to the Netherlands when she was 3 months old

We have very good memories but my girlfreind Sriti
sometimes has some difficulties now with being
adopted.
Do you still life in Bangladesh? And how did you get
by the idea of going to Easter Island?

Hi Wouter,
Thanks again for your mail.
I now live in Australia. I wanted to go to Easter
Island, since I learned about its Moai statues in
National Geographic many years ago - It was really
worth going there.
I think you will enjoy it too - is Sriti going with you?
How was Azores?
Sriti's story is so unique, if she does not mind I
would like to know her story a bit more - who
adopted her, were they good parents, how they raised
her, education etc and her perspective of Dutch life
and Bangladesh.
Only if Sriti feels free.
Kind regards
Moin

Hi Moin,
we enjoyed the Azores very much, we even climbed Pico,
the highest volcano, and, it was a hell of a climb!
Sriti will not join me to E Island, probably a friend
of mine. I will stay 11 nights which should be
sufficient.
Did you know that a total solar eclipse will happen in
2007 over Easter Island?
Children were adopted from Bangladesh only over a
period over 2 years around 1976, the Bengali
government stopped it I believe.
When she came here she was 3 months. She came in a
family with one girl of 2 years old, she is very
blond! Her Dutch father then died at age of 3 years so
she grew up with her mother and sister. She sees her
Dutch mother as her mother, they are very much alike
coincidentally.
Sriti now works with disabled people some 10km from
our house.
After we returned from Bangladesh in December 2003 she
developed some difficulty with the fact that she is
adopted (she is now almost 28). We know each other now
11 years and since 3 years we live together.
We have some vague plans to travel for a half year or
a year or so to Asia and Australia. Anyway, we go to
Indonesia next year to see the place of birth of my
mother (although she is not Indonesian).
By the way, how do you ended up in Australia? Does
your family still lives in Bangladesh?
Best rgds,
Wouter

Hi Wouter,
Thanks a lot for your lovely mail and Sriti's story
- a very touching one.
I am sure, you will surely have a very wonderful 11
days in desolate Rapa Nui - I liked that
desolateness so much, a great place for
contemplation.
I did not know about the total solar eclipse in
2007 over Easter Island - now that I know, I will
have to be there - which month and which day it will
happen? If you know, please let me know.
It appears that you too also have an interesting
background - would you mind sharing a bit.
I migrated to Australia in 1992, though I did not
settle here till 1999. All of my immediate family
members have migrated to Australia and now live here.
I think you and Sriti has a most interesting story -
would you like to share it with the readers of my
website. If you and Sriti permit, I would like to
post these e-mails as it is on my website (off
course if you wish any part omitted - I will omit
that part).
I will really appreciate your permission - I think
yours is a most interesting human experience to
share.
Kind regards
Moin
